I'm proud to call Mauritius my home—a small but vibrant island nation nestled in the Indian Ocean, about 2,000 km off the southeast coast of Africa. More than just a dot on the map, Mauritius is a beautiful blend of cultures, landscapes, and history, and it’s shaped who I am today.
Born and raised on the main island, I grew up in a country where diversity isn't just something we talk about—it's something we live every day. Our population reflects a rich mosaic of ethnicities, languages, and faiths. In fact, Mauritius is the only African country where Hinduism is the most practiced religion, and we celebrate everything from Holi and Chinese New Year to Christian and Muslim festivals with the same joyful spirit.
Our capital, Port Louis, is a place where colonial history meets modern hustle. From the lively markets of the Port Louis Bazaar to the peaceful views at Fort Adelaide, the city is full of character and stories. It’s also the financial heart of the island and plays a big part in connecting us to the global economy.
Mauritius has come a long way—from a former sugar plantation colony to one of Africa’s most developed and peaceful countries. We’ve built a strong economy that now includes textiles, tourism, financial services, and tech. What I love most is how my country balances progress with compassion—providing free healthcare, education, and transport for those who need it most.
Environmentally, our island is just as unique. Mauritius was once home to the famous dodo, and though it's gone, conservation efforts today protect rare species like the pink pigeon and the echo parakeet. Our tropical climate, lush landscapes, and clean air make it an inspiring place to grow up—and create.
My roots in Mauritius have shaped my outlook—resilient, diverse, creative, and always evolving. I carry that spirit with me in everything I do, from design to daily life.
